I’d like to do a half marathon race as part of my training for Stockholm. Ideals for the race include:
- Located in England, in a city that I’ve not visited
- Good size
- March or April race
- Good scenery
Here are the top 3 choices:
I don’t really want to visit Reading. This does look like a large and well organized race.
Bath Half, Sunday 15 March
This could actually be a pretty good choice. I’ve never been to Bath, but I’ve wanted to go since I first came to England. I could see the Jane Austen house on Saturday, soak in the Georgian Archetictue while running, and visit the Baths for post race relaxation. It would also be simple to drive to Bath on Saturday morning, stay one night, and then come home Sunday afternoon.
Silverstone Half, Sunday 15 March
Not likely. This Half takes place in Liverpool. Jeddie’s already been to Liverpool and I don’t have any interest in visiting. (I did just start playing Hey June on YouTube). Plus, Silverstone is a historic motor racing circuit and I don’t have any interest in motor sports.

I need to leave the house in 15 min. to catch a train to London. Plans for the day include:
A swim workout. My knee feels a little “itchy” after yesterdays run.
Yoga, focusing on arms and shoulders when I get home.
Dinner alone. Jeddie is teaching Latin in London tonight. I’m not sure of what to make.

I just signed up for the Blogger Holiday Marathon Challenge organized by NYC Fitness. I’m going for the Ultra-marathon distance. I run more than 26.2 miles a month right now, but I thought that it would be fun to track my runs with other runners.
I eat hummus all the time, but I just started buying flavored hummus to spice up my lunches. Today I had caramelized red onion hummus with a big cucumber and soya beans. It was just so yummy. The grocery store also has pesto hummus, olive hummus, jalapeno hummus, and many others. I might try the olive hummus, but I’ll probably not try the jalapeno version.

I only got in 2 miles yesterday. I just could not get into the run and let myself quit. Oh the shame! Sometimes I just can’t run on the treadmill. I think it’s my ADD. It’s okay. I’ll get in a run after work tonight. I’m up early, but decided to take care of a few things around the flat, laundry, some filling, mostly after work because my husband is teaching Greek at our house tonight. I’m going for a run where I used to run all of the time last year. It’s well light so I can run there at night.

Since I didn’t get my 10k in yesterday, I’m going to run it today after work. I’m running even if it’s dark and cold and I’m a little hungry. One day off is a rest day, but if I take more than one day off, I get cranky.
Chores for today:
Bank to transfer money. I need to derisk our currency holdings. 🙂 ie transfer money before the pound sinks any further.
Get a Christmas present for my sister.

50% of the couples run has cancelled.

I’ve convinced Jeddie to come to the gym with me tonight. He doesn’t know it yet, but I’m planning a couples 10k for us. For me, I’m doing the first half of the run at 6.2mph and the second half of the run at 6.5mph.
I did 10 min of yoga this morning. I’m somewhat sore from my yoga yesterday. It’s not like a, “I can’t sit down in my desk chair, I did way too many squats in body pump sore,” but more of a gentle sore. I can really feel it in my shoulders and in the back of my legs. I really like it, actually.
I thought that I was taking potential new hire out for lunch today, but it turns out that I was interviewing her before lunch time, so we just stayed in the office. I had to buy my lunch from Boots. 😦 I hate buying my lunch. I had a hummus and veggies wrap. I hope hummus and veggie sandwiches, but mine are 100x better than Boots and much cheaper. Not 100x cheaper. 🙂
